GEARING UP FOR THE 2007 SEASON AND STEP'N IT UP TO A 360 SPRINT...

    July 1, 2006

THE SHERMANATOR FINALLY SCORES IN GOLD COUNTRY!

No, it's not the title of the next American pie movie! Matt "Wormy" Sherman scored his first career Bay Cities Racing Association Midget Lite main event win Saturday night at the Placer county fairgrounds speedway in Placerville. Nineteen Midget lites towed up the hill to the beautiful hillside bullring to compliment the regular Saturday night show of 360 Sprint cars, Pro Stocks and Pure Stocks.

The Midget Lites kicked off their night with two heat races; the first heat was won by Sam Corso from the fourth starting spot followed by Scott Kinney with Chris Glass, Cameron Beard, Rick Holbrook and Ron Weimer in the sixth and final transfer spot. Matt Sherman led the six main event qualifiers out of the second heat with the win; followed by Brian Corso, Doug Hunting, Kevin Hunter, Jesse Harmon and Jeff Griffin.

Brian Corso led the first two laps of the feature from his outside front row starting spot when the first yellow was thrown for the Stalled Holbrook machine. Corso Resumed the lead at the restart only to fall victim to his own mechanical woes stalling between turns three and four, leaving Matt Sherman to drive a near perfect race to lead the rest of the way home. While Matt was out front the racing was hot and heavy in the middle of the pack with Doug Hunting and Scott Kinney waging a torrid duel for second and third with Hunting finally taking the spot. The top five was rounded out by Kevin Hunter and Cameron Beard.

The Midget lites will return this Saturday night July 8th, to The Placerville Speedway without their wings to do battle before taking a week off for the Clay Cup Nationals in Deming Washington.
